Alibaba Open-Sources Cutting-Edge Wan 2.1 AI Model for Image and Video Generation

Alibaba has significantly escalated the competition in the AI arena by open-sourcing its latest image and video generation model, Wan 2.1. This powerful AI tool is now accessible globally via Alibaba Cloud’s ModelScope and HuggingFace, empowering developers and businesses to leverage its capabilities.

Four versions of Wan 2.1 are available, with the most potent being the 14B variant, boasting 14 billion parameters for generating high-quality visuals. Notably, Wan 2.1 has already achieved top ranking on VBench, a leading benchmark for AI video models.

Underscoring its commitment to AI leadership, Alibaba has also revealed a substantial $52 billion investment earmarked for cloud computing and AI infrastructure development over the next three years. Further demonstrating this commitment, the company previewed QwQ-Max, a new reasoning model slated for future open-source release.
